Body Horror has always interested me. Body Horror is a interesting genre in general. Not because of the gruesome style of it, but rather the art of the horror. Out of all the horror, body horror is realistic because it deals with the body. It causes people to feel the skin of their own bodies. There are my favorite body horror movies. Enjoy the list and commented your favorite one.
The Fly 1986

Simply the movie is about a brilliant scientist, Seth Brundle created a teleportation machine that teleport one matter to place to an another place. He fell in love with Veronica which they form a relationship. He teleported himself in the machine succesfully however a house fly was on the machine which the DNA of the fly and the human combined. The result caused him to slowly turned into a human fly of freakly nature. The movie is a reboot of 1958 classic the Fly.
Why do I love this movie?
Simply because of the special effect and the slow transformation of Seth Brundle. He turned from a sexy scientist into this humanoid fly monster. Fun fact about the special effect is it is puppet and makeup. Not only you can see his physical transformation, but you can see his mentally transformation. He slowly turn from a human into an insect. Throughout the movie, you can see his mind transform into a monster. He went from scientist playboy to monster.
The movie is a tragedy of love and sadness. He went from this successful bussinessman with VVeronica and slowly turned into a beast. The scenes where his body parts falling off is tragedy because they were vital parts of Seth. His good look and handsome look were important figures of the man. When I see his look fading away, it sadden my heart because of the fact he is changing into this beast of the unknown.

I also love how the movie itself wasn’t a cliche horror movie in order to get people scared. The movie is a basic Shakespeare tragedy. The main character started good, but at the end the main character either died or suffer a huge loss. In this case, Seth loss his humanity and even at the end begs Veronica to kill him, which she did. The movie isn’t scary. The movie is a classic tragedy of love, ego, and the fear of the unknown.
The Thing 1982

To summary the point of this movie, a group of American researchers find an unknown alien parasite that can assimilates and intimates other organisms which land on Earth. The researchers must kill the parasite or they will be it next target. The movie is based off of 1938 novella Who Goes There? by John W. Campbell Jr but it was the faithful based off of The Things From Another World. It is directed by horror legend, John Carpenter, who is well known for the Halloween Series.
This movie is my favorite for one reason: The idea of cosmic horror. Cosmic Horror is a type of horror that involves unknown comsic force or entity as the antagonist. Most people call it Lovecraftain horror which is based from the works of H.P Lovecraft, a former American Author, known for writing horror that involves alien looking entity. The movie feels like Lovecraftain horror movie.

An alien lifeform that is unknown hunting down other living beings for survive and most likely to rule the world, sound like a Lovecraftin Horror. It is the fear of the unknown that make it my favorite. What is the parasite? What is the purpose of the parasite? How did the parasite got on Earth? Questions and an unknown alien parasite is what make suspense and mystery in the horror. The mystery and suspense cause me to question and wonder where did this species come from.
